Our History

River's Edge Christian Church began in 2011 with a small group of people meeting in the back yards of some of the early members of the church. We are a group of evangelical Christians from several denominations with one purpose: to glorify God.

In 2013, we moved to the former Vernon Center school building.

In 2016 Bart Whitman came to serve with us and lead the congregation as our pastor. Pastor Bart is originally from the Fairmont area and is a graduate of the University of Northwestern-St Paul. He is married to Charmaine, and they have two children: Keely and Arabella.

River's Edge began a new chapter in our church's history in 2020 when we purchased our first building on Maine St in Amboy, and voted to affiliate with Converge.

Our Mission

River's Edge exists to glorify God through fervent prayer, passionate worship and hands-on community outreach.

Our Statement of Faith

We believe in one God, Creator of all things, sustainer of life, infinite in love, holy, infinitely perfect, unchanging, and existing eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully man.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the giver of new life in Christ.

We Believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God.

We believe that the true church is made up of all who have been justified by God’s grace through faith alone in Christ alone.

We believe that the Lord Jesus instituted two ordinances: baptism by water and the Lord’s Supper.

We believe that God commands everyone everywhere to believe the gospel by turning to Him in repentance and receiving the Lord Jesus Christ.

Affiliation

River's Edge is affiliated with Converge and Converge North Central. Visit the Converge website for more information on this great worldwide movement of churches.
